Saxophone Playday 14th October, Thirsk, Yorkshire

Good Morning Folks

First there was Leicester, then came Manchester and now Yorkshire!!

StaxofSax are very much looking forward to hosting a saxophone play day in Thirsk on the 14th of October 2012.

The Venue is:-
The Rural arts centre
The old courthouse
4 Westgate
Thirsk
N. Yorkshire
YO7 1QS

The day is open to any player aged 11 and above with 12 months or more playing experience.

It will consist of 3 sessions, a large sax choir, small group work and performance and an improvisation session during the afternoon. This caters for all levels of improvisation, not just the experienced.

The large ensemble piece is arranged specifically to cater for the players we have booked. So the parts are manageable by everyone with some practice. We send the parts out 2 weeks before.

The small group session is based around playing a quartet/quintet arrangement and performing it to the best of your ability to the other groups.

after lunch the improvisation session starts with an introduction and guidance element, followed by breaking into groups to have a look at a jazz piece and practicing what you have learnt. Followed by a group performance to the other delegates.

The venue has plenty of car parking and there is an on site cafe for lunchtime. Everything a saxophonist should need for a good days playing.

If you would like to join us you can contact me either through the forum, or email staxofsax<<at>>gmail.com

Previously we have had quite a few forum members attend our workshops in Manchester and Leicester and for everyone that does attend from the forum, we make a donation to Pete's charity.

The cost of the day is £30.00 per person and is open to individuals and existing ensembles if you want to come as a gang.

Come and have a go folks, it must be fun as this is our 16th workshop so far.

Check out staxofsax on facebook to see videos and pictures of past events, including last weeks worskhop in Leicester.

Look forward to chatting with some of you soon

best wishes

Ps we have already got 13 out of 20 paces booked, so don't wait too long to book yours.

We have 14 confirmed attendees so far, but only one from the cafe. Are there no more Sax players from the forum that fancy joining us for a good days music making?

Please spread the word folks, dont forget Petes Charity gets a donation for every Cafe member that attends.

Hope to see more of you soon

best wishes

Dave

Thought their would have been interest from our Yorkshire bretheren, but there's still time 🙂 even if you are relatively new to the sax (like me) it's a great day and i gaurentee you will come away feeling better about your playing, and you will learn something new.

Thanks Kev and Martin for your support. We have one lady who couldnt get to the Manchester one has booked 9 of her sax playing buddies on this one.

Look forward to seeing Kev again and hopefully Mandy will be able to make it from Aberdeen again.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks Amanda, glad you could make it.
We had a really good days music making with a great bunch of people, in a lovely venue. What more could you ask for.

We will definitely be running another event at Thirsk as it seems fairly central for a lot of people.
We can thoroughly recommend the Rural Arts Centre as a venue to hold and event at. Very helpful and facilities.
Look forward to seeing some more members on the next one.

regards

Dave
