Could be better
My insurance is up for renewal. My long term insurers Allianz have sold the music insurance to another company. I don't doubt they are perfectly good but thought I would ask what others are using or recommend before committing myself.

Do read up on what is offered, some won’t insure in a locked boot, or even if someone walks off with your instrument while you’re setting up and it wasn’t “in a locked room “!

Our house insurance has to be above the usual companies, but I was surprised when their cover on my gear blew everyone else out of the water.

I use to use Allianz but I’m now using Lark , they are the company who’s taken over , the quote was competitive enough and seem to offer same cover , but until you have to make a claim you never know how good they are

Lark is the company that’s been in contact and seems to offering close to the same cover. As I was with Allianz for so long some of the details are out of date and I have to set up an online account which didn’t exist as a option when I first took out insurance. The accessories cover is a bit low since all the cases and mouthpieces are above their limit but I don’t suppose they would be my main concern and I’ll see if anything can be done when I have the account set up.

As you say you only find out if you need to claim. Someone I know had to get the MU involved before Allianz paid up.

I also have Lark, following being insured with Allianz. Price is competetive and the cover includes being left unattended in a locked vehicle, and on a stage. Of course, as mentioned above, until you have to claim you never know what excuses they'll put up.

Ok, thanks, as I am in the transitional phase with Lark and based on what’s been said I may as well stick with them. Working through insurance policies makes my head hurt as I suppose it does with any sensible person.

I've gone Victor Knight > Allianz > Lark.

Lark seem OK, at least you can still get to speak to someone on the phone. At Vic Knight I always got a helpful friendly chat with Sandra. Vic was a character. I once asked him about life insurance, he asked why and how old I was . I said 24, his reply was "OK, so are you going to **** yourself to death then?"

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
