Mouthpieces Rousseau Ebonite Studio Jazz?

Morning all.

I'm currently looking for an alternative mpc for my tenor. For the last 3 years i have solidly been playing on a Dukoff S7 and before that a metal Otto link 7.

I need the Dukoff for the gigs that i do with DC Fontana, its powerful and cuts through the loud volume of the band very nicely, however i am not overly keen on the tone it produces. I am playing a Conn 10m (early 1970s) and really want something that i can use for other jazz gigs that turn things down. I have gone off the Otto Link to be honest and am now looking for an ebonite mpc.

So what are your thoughts on the Rousseau Ebonite Studio Jazz for tenor?

Jamie.

I would still consider that Rousseau a high baffle, small chamber piece -- except for the larger beak size, it's more like your Dukoff than it is different. Best thing is to try several different pieces and see what works for you. You can't be much more than an hour from Bradford, go up to Woodwind Exchange, Stuart will have plenty of different pieces you can try.

Morgan,

Not heard of Woodwind exchange, and my brother lives in morely so it's a good excuse to pop up, do they have a wide range?

@kev I haven't tried a PPT, though since joining this forum, i have been reading up on them, they sound great.

Huge variety of stuff. Lots of used and vintage things as well as new, a good place to try a bunch of different pieces. Tell Stuart what you're after and he'll point you in the right direction.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
