My good friend and owner of the Woodwind Forum Ed Svoboda posted on his site an Email from Rico stating that they would be reintroducing the Metalite Mouthpiece line in the next year. They also admitted that it was a mistake on their part for removing them from production in the first place.

This should make quite a few saxophonists happy. No more scrounging on Ebay for overpriced examples.:welldone

I'd better get on and sell my last few overpriced examples before the market price falls. :D

What's the betting that Rico will charge a fair bit more than they used to, given the now cult status of the metalite?

I had the Tenor and Ato M9 Metalite's and did not favour the alto much but the tenor m9 was nice, great sound.I got mine off ebay from a shop that had found them stashed away in some box,i payed £15.00 each and postage was included, long gone now though.

Great news, but I bet they'll concentrate on tenor and alto, baritone will have to wait!

The soprano ones are really nice, I've got an M11 - the soprano Metalite's don't have such extreme tip openings...

Maybe the new ones will have a different finish, something other than that lovely 'dimpled grey' - which immediately shows up those of us who are 'economical' with our hard-earned dosh !
