Hi
In general, will a smaller tip mouthpiece increases resistance?
Cheers
Suppose it must since basic physics tells us that a higher pressure would be needed to put a set amount of air through a smaller hole and the air would move faster.
Of course from a sax point of view adding a vibrating reed of any particular strength will introduce a lot of variables.
For a pretty in-depth description of all things technical in the saxophone buy a copy of Larry Teal's 'The Art of the Saxophone', compulsive reading.

I am having nose leak problem with my alto. I mean air leaks from my nose (not the sax's nose) after playing for about half an hour. I have no problem with my tenor and sop. My alto seems to give too much resistance. I have been using 4C and C*.
I am buying a wider tip mp for my alto, wonder if it helps.

I shall assume for now that this isn't a wind-up...
I presume you mean that after playing for a while you are finding that your air support is becoming divided between the required amount coming out of your mouth and the not-at-all required air coming up through your nose?
I can imagine what that feels like and might be tempted to think that there is a little problem in the physiology at the back of your throat in that there is a weakness there in some way.
Have you been playing for a long time or relatively new to saxophony?
