Hi this may make me sound like a complete newbie (as I pretty much an lol) but I'm a little stuck on something. I know that when you find the symbols ]: & :[ (sorry best I can do with phone) it means to repeat that part of the piece, but what does it mean when you have this one :[ part way through without the first. I was thinking it may mean repeat from the beginning but not sure any help would be much appreciated, thanks MARKYBOY.

yes, If there's nothing else, start again. A bit like Monopoly. Luckily there's no jail to get stuck in.

if you mean :|| the repeat sign then it means go back either the beginning or until you see ||:

So yes, you have it right.

When you've learned that please email it to me. Not more than 250 words, please, as I'm easily distracted ;}.

Actually as a semi-aside there is a great book for those wishing to learn the essentials of music reading (and it is a cheap one too! )

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Right-Way-Read-Music/dp/0716020084

I have lent my copy to so many people over the years I can't even remember if I have it here or if someone else has it - it is well worth its small price tag for those interested.

(and no it is nowt to do with me - unfortunately - just think it is worthy of a mention)
