I doubt it would be harmful. How good it is depends on what you do, so I'd check with whoever told you to do this.

Or:

Look in Taming The Saxophone vol 1 as there is a whole raft of mouthpiece exercises.

If it was me I'd be tempted to use my actual mouthpiece that I use when playing though.

Cheers pete I will have a look at that . The only problem with using the Meyer is if it got damaged or lost as I am a tree surgeon there might be a chance of this happening .

At least you could then get a better mouthpiece!:w00t:;} Seriously, a Bari Esprit II is made out of a durable hard composite so at £14 may be a solution (As is a Rico Graftonite - made of Graftonite no less, and also only £14). I'd say better to get a trumpet/cornet mouthpiece to strengthen your embouchure and little risk of any damage to actual mouthpiece!

Kind regards
Tom.

I can't afford to buy any more mouthpieces as I have a long list of other things to buy and am also very happy with the Meyer lol .

I don't think it matters much what mouthpiece you use. The only thing that you can meaningfully practise with mouthpiece alone is to do with the throat/larynx, so it's not much to do with embouchure.

You buzzing your mouthpiece should give your leaf shredder thingy some stiff competition.
