Just bought on Ebay a PPT Blue Tenor 7* mpc and was wondering what lig some of you used, noticed it has a bit of a taper.
Does the mpc take alto or tenor ligs?

Thanks in advance

I have the tenor onyxite PPT 7* and use a standard tenor rovner cloth type lig. Seems ok to me.

Hi Brian

I use a Faxx slim baritone ligature on my PPT tenor. They're on the store here:
http://tamingthesaxophone.com/store/mouthpieces/ligature-for-ppt-tenor/prod_26.html

Out of stock at the moment, but also available here:
http://www.woodwindandbrass.co.uk/c...xx&PN=baritone_sax_ligatures.html#a1954#a1954

A cap is included with the ligature.

There's a thread discussing PPT tenor ligatures here:
http://cafesaxophone.com/showthread.php?2358-PPT-Ligature-recommendations

Hope this helps. Enjoy your new mouthpiece!

David

I found the Rovner types that I tried held the reed tightly near the neck, but too loosely near the tip. Best so far is a Marc Jean (or is it Jean Marc?) two screw that I bought from the yard sale. A touch expensive, but fits perfectly.

I really like a Rovner Star. The Marc Jean is terrific but costs a bit more.

Haha, funny if they go the way of the Vandoren blues.

+1 for Marc Jean ligatures, which I have on all instruments (saxes at least). They are hand made in Canada and carry no import charge in UK - cost about £45. Marc is also a really nice bloke!

Mpc arrived today, initial thoughts are very good, plays well, good response, intonation fine and have a few ligs that fit, using an alto Rovner EVO-5 with Legere Signature reed.

I like the blue colour, the one on Ebay thats £165 is from a company that regularly marks things up at top end prices, think they might have a problem selling it at that price.

This is my first Pillinger mpc and i am impressed.

Thanks again for your replies
