I am waiting for a Ponzol tenor neck to be delivered. I am hoping it will give my 82Z more core to its sound and help with the intonation of the side keys (they are a little on the sharp side).

I'll write a mini-review here after I've had a play around with it - here's hoping....

ps: Does anyone use a Ponzol neck, or has anyone tried one out?

HI

I use Ponzol alto M1 Mouthpiece, which is focussed and dynamic, superb. I will be interested to read your adventure with the neck.
Good luck
Ben

Hi Ben,

nice mouthpiece - what make of sax are you hoping to put the ponzol neck on?

Just noticed that I missed the original post!

Doh!

Josh, what yamaha crook are you using at the moment?

Regarding the sharp side keys - it could be that they are just opening too much. Try adding some cork to the feet of the side keys - this may help bring them more in tune - be careful as too much cork will make those notes stuffy.

My alto

HI,
For my Ponzol M1 mpc I have a Trevor James Sig Series alto but I want a POnzol for my JK SX90R tenor.
Have you got the neck yet because I will be very intersted, btw where are you getting the neck from? I might buy mine from Ponzol website.
Cheers
Ben

Well, the Ponzol neck form WWBW was delivered today. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play it as the kind UPS man wanted me to pay the equivalent of 50 quid for the pleasure of receiving it.

I told him, as well as I could, that I wasn't going to pay it - so he took it away, telling me someone from UPS will get in contact with me to explain the extra charges.

You know, I've a mind to say I don't want it even if it means losing more money than the 50 quid they're asking for. Nose, spite and face spring to mind.

Good luck. I've been caught ilke that before. Turned out to be import duty - and a hefty, non negotiable fee from some arbitrarily appointed company for clearing the goods through customs. The fee was an absolute rip off.

Hi Josh, i been caught off our custom's about 6 time's now. They must put your name on computer when you deal alot oversea's so since then i have bought about 5 mp's and 2 sax neck's from the USA and Japan and before i pay i explain to them to send it as a gift and say it's only worth between $20.00 to $75.00 and up to now all has been well. It's a con but that's the UK for you ,tax this tax that.Shame about the neck.I just got a Selmer serie 3 silverplate Booster neck today:D for my Z and it's made it atad more compact, focused and rounded off the palm key's.Tuning seem's spot on.I no Matthews in Holland have the old version Ponzol neck's on Ebay for £215.00 but there the older model and not the new S model neck.Hope all turn's out ok for you, cheers dave.

So what 's what with the Ponzol neck Josh, any new's.I just got caught AGAIN for duty tax on a DG king mouthpiece from Japan.I forgot to tell the lad to put down $75.00 and he put £100.00 as the cost of mp,had to pay nearly £26.00 so my good deal turned out not that great:( did you send the neck back.

Hi Dave,

I finally had to get in touch with UPS. They then informed me that they had sent the package back to the US! I then contacted WWBW to tell them to send it back to me once they had received it.

I only hope that the neck is worth all of this trouble - this is doing nothing for my carbon footprint!

Sorry to hear that you got stitched up with import taxes, seems to be a good way of earning money. So the neck you've got on your tenor is okayish? Only a slight difference?

The booster neck work's great on my Z.Keep swapping the neck and go back to the Selmer neck everytime.Palm key's are great.Abit more compact and focused i think.Tuning is great.Last nite i rehearsed with another new band i in (wedding band) for the 1st time with the brass section and was great as tuning is concerned. Tiny bit more resistence on the Selmer neck but still very easy, free blowing. As the name say's Booster you get abit more power.Altissimo is cracking.

Last year I assisted someone who wanted to buy a different neck for his Yamaha tenor (62). One of the necks was a Ponzol. In the end, he went with a replacement Yamaha neck (don't know anymore what type). From what I remember, the Ponzol was darker than the original Yamaha, and the replacement Yamaha's. However, he preferred the response of the Yamaha neck.
