Saxophones playing quiet...

New Member
i live in a flat so playing my saxophone has always been a problem due to the noise. i got a sax mute the three foam rings you put in the mouthpiece, neck and bell and it does help. what i found worked best of all was a polishing towel, it double thickness and big enough to cover my tenor sax, what i have done is put a key ring on one corner of the towel and hook it onto the neck screw. and hand the towel down over the sax, I use a little clip to hole the towel over the bell. checked on my phone app and with nothing its 103/108db... with the sax mute its about 80db. with the sax mute and the towel it about 50db... find I can practice for longer and not upset my neighbours or my wife in the other room watching TV...
