Playing a Mordent

How do I play a mordent?

I looked up online and it suggests a move up a tone, then back to the note.

For the piece "Itamar Freilach" I have mordents written on A (A to B), D (D to E) and on C (C to D). How do I play the C to D mordent? This is the C in the 3rd space and the D on the 4th line, so a case of one finger to all fingers (and thumb) and back again!

Is there some quick and easy cheat using a side key?

Thanks

Same as the trill. Finger the C and use the high Eb key. It's often a bit sharp but it's way better than using the high D key. Don't forget to keep your C finger down and don't touch the octave key.
