I read that too, I loved his playing, only recorded though, never saw him. I enjoy playing his Sonata for Alto & Piano but I'm not aware of any other compositions of his.

It is. Emphysema :(. I'll consider myself lucky if I'm still playing at 83 though. He's leaving a great body of recordings behind for us.

He has been successfully playing followed by an oxygen tank for at least 15 years.
I like to think he simply wants to focus on his forthcoming book and compositions.

Report has been written by a journalist. It makes it seem like he now needs oxygen, while there is nothing new about it.
