🙂🙂 I thought that it was about time I did a full service on my 50's SBA Alto after having continuously played it for 5 years, during which I put on the turntable!! the LP. " Dave Brubeck at Carnegie Hall".. BTW my granddaughter wondered what this big CD was!!. (sigh!). This was one of the first LP's I purchased when I was trying trying to emulate Joe Morello, a total failure BTW, but it did inspire me to listen to the alto sax of Paul Desmond. So years later as I did the rebuild I realised how good the whole LP was and went back to listen to most of the recorings of Paul. I had been through most of the well known alto players Pete King, Joe Harriot, Cannonball Adderly, Bird etc. and reallty appreciated the lyrical quality of Desmond. The rebuild done I came accross this.. Enjoy it!! Regards 😉😉

PS I have since used his improvisation of "Autumn in Washington Square." now called "Autumn in my Town !!

@scotsman , that is a very nice, easy listening, smooth alto sax rendition by Paul Desmond. This is the first time I've heard it, thanks for posting it.

I am fortunate to have the now out of print Hal Leonard's Jazz Play Along book with CD, Volume 75, Paul Desmond.

Hal Leonard book photo from Amazon (from their item not available listing page)

I think I purchased this either off an Internet auction site or a used on-line book store. (My copy has a single red marker line through the barcode on back, why I know I acquired it used.)

It has Paul Desmond's:
  1. All the Things You Are
  2. Easy Living
  3. Jeruvian
  4. Rude Old Man
  5. Samba Cantina
  6. Samba De Orfeu
  7. Suicide Is Painless (Song from M*A*S*H)
  8. Take Five
  9. Take Ten
  10. When Joanna Loved Me
but not this song.

I searched SOTM and BOTM indices, but neither seems to have it. Yet is a very serene, sweet, good tempo'd (not too fast, not too slow) melody. Perhaps one of these days, it may attain to SOTM or BOTM status.
