Beginner Over Blowing "G"

Hi Guys, the problem I have is that whenever I play a G plus the octive key it over blows to the D above. This will happen if I play the note on its own or if the interval between it and the previous note is a large one. It doesn't happen if I play into the G from above or below. So playing A down to G is no problem. Likewise playing F to G is no problem. Now as food for thought, it's not the sax as both of them do the same thing one being a YTS 62 mk2 and the other being a T992. Any
ideas as to why and a solution would be most welcome:thumb:.

Cheers

Chris

It quite often happens to me too. I think it just needs a lot of practise blowing down/up to it, then trying it on its own. Try experimenting with your embouchure too.

Check you're not touching the LH palm keys, and that they're sealing properly.

make sure your lips are far enough down the mouthpiece. If you push a little more mouthpiece into your maouth (maybe 2 mm) and loosen up on the embouchure you may find you can hit that high G more cleanly.
