Miscellaneous Omnichords

Anyone here ever owned or tinkered with an omnichord? I've been offered one & it seems intriguing for soundscapes and backing tracks.... anyone experienced one of these oddities

Oh, interesting - a sort of electronic auto-harp thing. If Brian Eno and Damon Albarn have used them, they can't be all bad. Enjoy this instructional video for the Omnichord's successor, the QChord. You can play it even with arthritis!

I remember seeing Daniel Lanois using one live at some big festival on the telly years ago- he got some great sounds out of it...

I can remember lusting after one when they came out. I never did get round to buying one. It looks like a lot of fun. Maybe a little dated now but still some interesting possibilities. I can't remember if it's midi. There might be lots of sounds available to download. More portable than a keyboard but not much more than a laptop. I'd give it a go if the price is right.

Never heard of it before but as Dooce described it as like an Autoharp, go for it.

If the bars work like a 'harp, pressing more than one at a time you can pick melody as well. One enormous advantage of that electronic version is never having to replace a string or tune it. Okay for the first one or two, then the hand hurts.
