I am absolutely happy with my 2 Selmers (Mark VI and SBA), but there are times, when I prefer my Yamaha 875, especially if it's about response in the low register.
So I am "testing" right now, which one of my 2 MPCs (Ted Klum Florida and Philtone Sapphire) and which neck (M came with the 875, I bought the unlaquered G later) sounds better (or how they sound different).
So here are two videos with Satin Doll using the same settings and the G and M neck.
I must say that there are times where I am tempted to sell the Yamaha to somebody who can make better use of the ultrasmooth sound this horn has 🙂
I prefer 'Ballad of a Sad Young Bengal Cat' but that's hardly surprising it's got a far better picture.
I didn't manage to listen to that one. I'll have to now, since you recommend it 🙂I prefer 'Ballad of a Sad Young Bengal Cat' but that's hardly surprising it's got a far better picture.
After you've listened to cliveys great version, go have a listen to the Art Pepper version 🙂I didn't manage to listen to that one. I'll have to now, since you recommend it 🙂
Mood, time of day, clientele...I took the slow version out busking today for the first time. It may work for an inside, sitting down situation, but it's not street. It felt weird. I'm reloading the the fast version. Funny how location affects the feel of a piece.
Hope to find some time for a new take coming month 🙂.
I'm sure there's a reason for it, but doesn't make much sense
...I find it difficult to understand. Starts off with C# and B...then goes to C and Bb, then C and B? I'm sure there's a reason for it, but doesn't make much sense to my uncultured brain 🙂
