Funny how things come around. O Holy Night had disappeared like much other Victorian stuff as being 'maudlin'. I first sang it 20 years ago with my music teacher's choir and it was a rarity.
It seems to be coming back into fashion - I've heard it at Midnight services a couple of times in recent years and it features regularly on classic FM in December.....
It's a lovely tune and I heard it for the first time about four years ago. My wife read in today's paper that it had replaced Silent Night as the top Christmas Tune in a poll.
