Hi all,
I was just thinking,
Do any member's ever exchange sheet music on the Forum?
Are we not allowed to upload/ e-mail any sheet music in case it's breaching Photocopying rules?

I'm just interested as im looking to set up a Sax quartet and simply am too skint and lazy to fork out for new sheet music.

All tips welcome.
Yanni

Oh, and whenever I start a group, half the folks have quartet charts they like too. So that can help. My teacher made suggestions too.

Yanno, forum rules are clear - no illegal activites. So if it's in copyright you may only swap/sell originals through the forum. No sending off a photocopy or pdf.

Besides, it's in our interests to buy/support the publishers of sheet music. If we didn't sources would dry up and what's there would become much more expensive.

But there are quite a few web sources for free, downloadable music that's out of copyright, and also for downloadable paid for copies of music still under copyright.

Correct.

The way this works is that you can't upload anything that you don't own the copyright to, or create links to copyright material or illegal filesharing sites.

This is a tricky situation to make specific rules about sometimes as the law changes from time to time, however if anything illegal is hosted here, then I am liable as owner of the site.

Yer i was just making sure about the copyrighting- i wouldnt ask people to send photocopied version's of sheet music,
I just thought, this doesnt have to apply to Quartet music, but perhaps we could have a "Swap Shop" kind of thing on the forum for sheet music, unless there already is one and i havent found it yet...

problem is nearly all sheet music is still in copyright, at least any sheet music that people would probably want.

And of course you can do the old Folk Group scam.
Make a record of traditional songs, publish a book and claim copyright of the "arrangements".

Yanni,
You might want to try some of my sax quartet arrangements. Some people have liked them, but try them and let me know how well they worked for you.

The site is here: http://www.ryuza.com/downloads.htm

Best this is they are FREE, just give me credit for doing the arrangement if you preform them live (Recording them please notify me.)

Good Luck!
