Norwegian Wood New Version......

This is a mixed bag. So much that's so good. Tone (as always) is excellent. This one (from memory) is more dynamic. Parts are extremely delicate and then other parts almost boisterous. The feel is good, but the timing of phrases sometimes seems odd (I know, you intended it that way). The other version (from memory) meshed a little better with the piano generally, whereas this one at times seems like you're playing over those delicate lines, but when you decide to play with the piano you do it so beautifully.

As a player I think you wanted a slightly different sound with the mouthpiece, but frankly without a side by side comparison nobody else can probably hear that difference. You still sound like you.

Overall it's better than the first, but so similar that I feel like I'm nitpicking. Both are beautiful and well played, but slightly different.

In the end i like this take more. Its more free, more to say, happy with my sound etc etc so i'm glad i done it again. Its a case of if i done things people feel i should of done then it would not be me playing my version so its a funny old thing.I understand opinions and they do give help and stuff to think about so i see both sides but as you know i go my own rocky path most of the time.I adore this song and you should checkout Kurt Elling singing this, its magical.

PS.the other version is on my soundcloud still.

no problem - I guess we all need simple appreciation as well as constructive criticism. For what it's worth - use your own voice - where's the value in simple reproduction. I work in IT - anyone can copy anything (given time) Make something unique x

I think we can count on Davey to always be unique. It's one of the things I really like about his playing. He's himself and not trying to be anyone else.
