Jazz New York City & Wayne Shorter

Some clips of a trip to New York a couple of years ago.
With some Clarinet & Sop and a Wayne Shorter tune.
I generally find playing His melodies a bit on the depressing side, but I thought it worked with my slow motion footage of New York at night. The opening scene of the Manhattan Bridge, reminiscent of the epic film. Once Upon a Time in America. Is one of my all time favourite films.

hello there,
i love wayne shorter and think he is a wonderful composer...some of his tunes are the blues, and thats where jazz came from....
over the years he has done so many different compositions of different styles...
have you heard the album "native dancer",an amazing soprano/latin album.....well worth a listen and definitely not depressing....
the ballad you play here jamesmac,is a lovely ballad which has in it,the bridge,a great up-lifting feel,to give the first section a difference of color/feeling...
i love the tune....
cheers,philip

Hi there back.
I see how people can be attracted to his tunes, there is a lot of craftsmanship in his melodies, and going into the major after a longish minor feel does lift the proceedings, but he is a bit long quarter hours with uplifting moments for me. 🙂 But I think the tune fits with my footage.

Thanks Trimmy. New York. My favourite city to visit. Been there a few times now, and the net is a great place to research what might interest you. My first reason for going there was for shopping, so many things are much cheaper there. Your other half will love it. I came across Delancy st after I got a bit lost after a visit to the famous salt beef place. Katz,s and it wasn't very fancy like in the song. I asked for directions back to my hotel that was on the upper west side, and was told you are no where near there, and she pointed out I was near the East river. I got out of there real quick, thinking that's where the mob throw their bodies.😉
