Hello and happy new year to all.

Sax.co.uk has launched their new 2017 line of Sakkusu chinese saxophones. Looks a lot like well known Gear4music/Thomann series, with a Yanagisawa base design. Don't indicate however anything on how they compare to those ones in bore, keywork, intonation and tone. One very good feature is they have Pisoni pads. I just bought Pisoni Pro octave pads for my G4M tenor, for quietening mechanism action, and they're excellent quality with soft leather and very good felt. I suppose their standard quality pads are pretty good too, so it's a good point for action feeling on the Sakkusu. The another good part is they are available in different finishes including black nickel, gold lacquer and vintage for both alto and tenor. I wish I buyed this black nickel tenor first!! Add to this that it's supplied with Yamaha MPC, backpack case, lower price than before, good tech setup (less lemons I suppose than G4M...), and I believe it's a promising chinese sax to really consider.

Around £ 400.00 for i new tenor sax is not much!! Lately I've been looking at chinese made saxes. There are some really good saxes made in PRC. Yesterday I spent c £ 70.00 on screws for my "The Martin" saxes! And later on, new pads, ....

I'm really satisfied with my G4M sax, tone is nice just like action and finish, intonation is very correct while not perfect but it can be me too, and nothing that's not tamable : ) Quality is better that you can expect for this price point, but some things are of course on the cheap side of sax manufacturing. On mine, I had to adjust B key height for proper intonation, strenghtening G key and adjust regulation like on all new saxes. Action stay nice and stable, still no leaks after two months of daily use. Really a bargain for the price. One thing which is true is that each sax has a tone core which make its personnality and is more or less refined and maleable, but what I learn/confirm from this G4M is that sax tone production is definitely more related to player, so almost all saxes can sound pretty good and there is not a lot of risk of deception here. The other things to consider are good intonation, action feeling/quality, and finish. After that a sax is a sax, if all those criteria are filled, and it will plays as good as you will play it. The good thing on this Sakkusu is their technician check them and make a proper setup before shipping. So there are less chances IMO to have issues like bad tone holes or pad leaking here and there.
