Well i am like a cat thats got the cream.
Called into Windband in Shrewsbury this morning and tried the TJ Signature Custom RAW alto mainly to see what the fuss was about, what with Stephen Howard and Jules buying the tenor version and Stephen rating these horns so much.
Took a few mouthpieces and one of my altos up there and the RAW just blew it away, great sound, intonation was the best i have tried in 20 years similar to yamaha,no matter how hard you pushed it you always knew it had more, build quality seems up there with the top brands but i am no expert and time will tell, the finish to me is spot on but i can see if you like shiny lacquer then this might not be the finish for some.
So GAS got the better of me and i had to take this new baby back home, played it most of the day and the smile has not gone off my face since, just thought i would share this with you,oh well back to it.

Congrats on the new horn Brian, any chance of a few sound clips??

Thanks Chris don't have any good sound stuff at home but the band I'm in is trying to have one of our next few gigs recorded for a cd so might have something in a couple of weeks.

Have fun. I've been in Windband a few times. I'm equi-distant from Shrewsbury and Chester - the latter doesn't have any real specialist music shops any more, except for guitars. They're quite helpful and not pushy (it's an old-fashoned sort of place - the current owners who are quite young took it over when the previous owner retired (I think) so it's been a music shop for a very long time.

Thanks,my first time that i have bought a horn off Windband, very friendly and helpful owners,i do remember the previous owner being the same way although only ever bought accessories off them in the past.
