Saxophones My sax has no serial number!

I guess it is because it is a 'prototype', and possibly unique, but I wondered if it would be a good idea to have some sort of Id engraved on it, to facilitate a reunion in the event of my being 'parted' from it?

I suppose something like a postcode would be good, in UK, but probably not here in Spain where the same code covers very large areas.
Any suggestions?

Sax Id

Thanks but they are not much uses here in Spain.
I think my Spanish NI number would probably be best.

Haven't looked at the 'smart water' option in detail...I wonder if the spanish police know about it!!

Engraving a national insurance number on the sax isn't such a good idea - it can present difficulties for subsequent owners. Same with passport numbers - and they change every 10 years, which means you probably end up with the problem.

Putting a self created serial number on it and photographing it in reasonably hi res would be a good compromise Something like your initials and a number that's hard to change. Doesn't make it easy for the police to find you though.

I hope there wont be any 'subsequent owners'.... in my lifetime....kev 🙂 (After that they haveta take their chances!!) And my NIE is only a number, but one which could help the police locate me. Something like my initials and year of birth would only be of limited usefulness, and postcodes, of course, can change.
