Ok this has nothing to do with the great Saxophone! Doh! I hear you all say.
This is a film promotion that my nephew wrote, directed and I think produced. Its a horror, it contains some nudity and it's a little scarey (you've been warned!) He'd like some feedback so if you have a couple of minutes, take a look ;}

Hi Taz,

I was a lecturer and course leader for Film and TV course (Higher Education) and I've spent countless hours marking and giving feedback on a variety of films my students made. I should say I wasn't film 'studies' type of lecturer, I ran a very practical course. Anyway, this is all by way of saying what sort of feedback is your nephew looking for?

Best wishes,

Chris

Good cinematography, looks fairly professional, story is a bit cliched...nutty people capturing naive idiots. Probably appeal to ansgt-ridden teenagers who fancy getting off on a pair or two of nice t*ts with bondage.

Soundtrack is too loud and obscures the words the actors are saying and the pictures on their own are not enough to get the trailer message across, remix and it should be ok.

I like it - and I'm not even a teenager.

Cheers

Mart

Thanks for your responses, firstly Chris, I didn't know there more than one sort of feedback, I don't know, I suppose general opinion, faults and good points. :confused:
And Mart, I totally agree about the sound. I've moaned at him as this is the second promo he's done for the film, the first was excellent and even made me jump!
Thanks guy's, I knew I could rely on the Cafe for honesty! ;}

Hi Taz,

Sometimes people are looking for feedback that motivates interest in which case he's looking for a lot of, 'it's great', 'spooked me out', 'Best film since' etc. Basically stuff that gets the film into peoples consciousness and so that it looks like the film has a big audience or community behind it i.e YouTube feedback.

In other cases it's critical feedback that is being looked for so that the film or what ever can be improved. If the film has already been made and the trailer is already out there then it's less likely he is looking for critical feedback, in my humble opinion.

All the best,

Chris

Hi Chris, no, it's not the youtube wow factor and he's still in the edditing stage, so Its more like Mart said, music is too loud, voices too quiet, that sort of thing. I think critical feedback is exactly what he wants.
Thanks, Taz

Hi Taz,

Okay, that makes more sense, I'll put together my thoughts over the weekend.

All the best,

Chris

Hi Taz,

I find the sound very good, perhaps because I have invested more in the sound system on my computer, than on the computer itself. It's loud(ish), but I think all movies are. Still, music is clear as are the dialogues. Not to much into horror myself (unless it's a part of Sci-Fi :) ), but it seems to be solid craftsmanship behind the making of the trailer. It could perhaps do with slightly longer scenes. I got the feeling of being rushed though it.

All in all, I think your nephew's done a mighty fine job. :welldone

Hi Taz,

PM sent, if you could pass it on to your Nephew.

Best wishes,

Chris
