music transposistion software??

Hi all, new to sax's and have just started lessons. I'm wondering if there is any software out there that allows you to simply type in the notes ie- ABCDEF and then the software produces the staves with all the symbolic notes in place aswel as the noted written below!

I'm not only new to sax but learning to read music aswell and think something like this would be of significant help!

Musescore works that way, and uses numbers for the note lengths. Takes a bit if getting used to, and has a few quirks. But the price is right.... And it'll easily transpose for you if you want to move a tune to a different key, or transpose something in concert pitch for your instrument.

There is quite a bit of music composition software available both free and commercial:

one advantage that a program can have is the ability to save in music xml format.

  • Rosegarden (Linux only)
  • NoteEdit (Linux only)
• Commercial programs:
  • Finale (full musicXML support from version 2006)
  • Sibelius (only with the dolet plugin)
  • PriMus
