Music Minus One Series?

Can anyone give me some feedback on the Music Minus One Series? Quality product or not?

The Music Minus One series was suggested in another thread of mine about becoming a better tenor saxophone player.

I've been listening to a lot of the Brian Setzer Orchestra and found this MMO that contained several of my favorite songs: http://musicminusone.com/woodwinds-1/tenor-saxophone/stompin-struttin-6-swing-bands-on-a-hot-tin-roof-tenor-sax-mmocd4215.html

Is it correct that it comes with: the sheet music, an orchestra playing the piece (with a tenor sax), and then another track where they leave out the tenor sax part and it's like you are playing with the orchestra?

Thank you for your help.

I've got the Music Minus One book and CD called "Back to Basics in the Style of the Basie Band" http://musicminusone.com/woodwinds-...in-the-style-of-the-basie-band-mmocd4277.html

The band is good, tunes are a mixture of originals in the Basie swing style and a couple of Basie tunes. It's well recorded and I really like it.

And the answer to all your questions is "Yes - that's correct" ! But for your "Stompin' and Struttin'" disc, I'm not sure whether the soloist would always be the tenor sax - it might be a trumpet or alto. It's not necessarily like the Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band books and CDs where you do play the part of a particular musician.

PS The sound clips on the MMO page you linked to sound really good !

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
