Why is there lots of choice?
Mouthpiece and you are the main contributors to the sound, much less so the sax. So guys swap mouthpieces to get different sounds. Also different mouthpieces give more or less resistance to your blowing. Some people prefer free blowing ones, others need resistance.
Then there's the ease of playing. Takes a while to learn to control a mouthpiece. More radical ones are a lot harder. So you get going on a good starter (like the 4C), learn to control that, then try others. Stick with the 4C for at least a year, unless your teacher suggests changing earlier.
