On Saturday, our Sax Choir ( http://www.singlereedssaxchoir.co.uk/ ) will be busking in Malvern Town Centre, to raise funds for The Malvern Fringe ( http://www.malvernfringe.co.uk/ ).

I have no idea what this involves, other than we play at a venue for a while, and then move onto the next venue. I can imagine this is relatively easy if this is just you an your squeeze-box, but I can also imagine that moving 12 of us, each with a sax and a music stand, plus whatever other acoutrements, might be a little challenging.

Ah, well, anything for a laugh! I just hope the weather holds out!

Good luck. Hope you've got a set of wheels for that Bari.... Maybe try and borrow OG's zimmer frame if you haven't.

Good luck Mandy. Sounds like an interesting logistical exercise.
Unfortunately the Zimmer is off the road at the moment being fitted with caterpillar tracks and a 4.7in gun from a Challenger 2 so as to be able to repel Kev's threatened panzer assault.

Well, we spent 45 minutes in each of two locations. One at the top of town, and one at the bottom (since Malvern in on a hill, this is a goegraphical observation!).

It was a pretty cold and grey day compared with earlier this week, but we missed the rain. :w00t:

A goodly number of passers-by put money in the bucket.

I've no idea how much we raised, but it looked like a reasonable amount in there. :thumb:

It was a really good way to spend the afternoon :welldone

if photos become available, I'll send you the link.

Good luck I really enjoy saxophone choirs, they are quite unique. I watched on U tube a rendering of Ravel`s Bolero with all the participants doing a sort of walking dance, apart from the contra baritone (I think that's what is.) who was the last man on the stage.

Really competent players and having great fun. Unfortunately I did not make a note of their name. Anyone know ? Best Regds. N.

I suspect it was the National Saxophone Choir: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oaz2ZJ0y2mU

Glad you had fun. I've performed outdoors a couple of times with the chamber choir (local castle gardens etc). It's tricky. We had problems with rain on one of the two occasions we've done it, so keeping music dry was a challenge.

At least with saxes you stand a chance of being heard outdoors - we've turned down several invitations to sing in Chester city centre on the run up to Christmas because of the difficulties.

Sounds like fun.
