Hey there,

I just signed up to the forum, after a number of months absorbing all the great advice here!

I've just got back to playing my tenor after a 7 year absence - and loving it!!!
I'm lucky enough to have a Selmer SA80 series II (1988). I just had it serviced
and is blowing really well - except I keep scouring online for something else!
And I'd fancy an alto too, if the right one came along.

I've been listening to loads of jazz over the last few months and reckon
that Chris Potter really is the Eddie Van Halen of the sax! He is pushing the
boundaries!

Looking forward to some great conversations soon!

Big welcome from me. Looks like GAS, there's no cure, so just give in gracefully.

JUst picked up my tenor last night fort he first time in weeks, have been concentrating on alto and bari, with a touch of sop thrown in. Tenor felt & sounded sooooo good.

Have fun !

Welcome blue chord - were you jazz player before you stopped playing tenor?
I played with a small quartet for a couple of weddings and it was good fun knocking
out some standards, but I wasn't really listening to much jazz then.
My improvisation didn't stray too far from the melody. At times the band leader,
the pianist was studying music, and must have been wincing at some of my lines!

I dunno, I've got the bug this time!!! I've bought a stack load of books, the Jerry Bergonzi
DVDs are on their way from the States, and my lip is sore still!!
Just working into getting the scales down and into my fingers and ears.
Then I hope to be back playing with some sorta outfit soon.

Thanks for all the welcomes folks!!!! I'm glad to be here!!

Sorry Michael, we don't have a license for booze. You'll have to have a cappuccino.
Welcome from Ilkley.

Hope you enjoy being here in the Cafe.

I've sometimes wondered what a couple of hours in the Crown Liquor Saloon would do for my playing - have you ever given it a go?

Regards

Dave

You'd have a great pint, great atmosphere, and a great time trying - but, alas, still
no Michael Brecker!!

Jim, it's a great tenor, just need to work on the bit behind the mouthpiece!
