Hi all
just wondered if anyone knows if or when Rico will be producing the Metalite for alto,or indeed if anyone on here maybe has one for sale.

Hi Mick,
According to some post's on SOTW, Rico were trying to get them on sale at the start of July this year, but nothing yet.
Rob.

I bought up a batch of 'new old stock' metalites a while ago, in sop, alto tenor and bari. Somehow the alto was the least impressive. Sops were pretty good, tenors great, baritones fantastic, better than some mouthpieces costing ten times as much. But somehow they didn't work quite as well in alto. Dunno why.

I've sold them all now, anyway.

Hi Mick,
I was reading Jonf's post and he wasn't keen on the alto model, i've never played one so can't comment. My Tenor one is great. For more info go on SOTW and just type in Metalite for altoin the search area, there's load's of information.
Best of luck, Rob.

Hi, it wasn't that I didn't like the alto version, it was OK, it just didn't have the stand out sparkle of the tenor and (particularly) the baritone ones. Maybe it was just me - when you can get them, they're so cheap you can try one without risking much cash.

Thanks for that Kev, actually i went to woodwind exchange in Bradford on Thurs and Stuart has hundreds of mouthpieces there, and amongst them were a metalite,so am going again when they come back off holiday to try out all of them!!
What a place and Stuart and Lynda are so easy going..
Also tried out a tenor sax for the first time GREAT !!!
feeling the gas coming on . oh dear here we go again

Cheers Mick

Have fun. I prefer tenor to alto. Richer, deeper... They're very different instruments, not the same thing in different pitches. I must check them out next time I'm in Manchester. It's not that far down the M62.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
