And so it came to pass that- feeling more than a little bit like a contestant on the BBC's "Faking It"- he packed up a vast flight case with a tenor & soprano sax, musical saw, harmonicas & effects pedals, bass clarinet and various bits of percussion- and went to the Vienna Jazz festival. Its a long time since i've felt scared by a gig but this one's got me deeply worried. Me- at a jazz festival- what were they thinking! I really don't consider myself a jazzer on any level but am holding out for for impersonating some sort of jazz-punk Roland kirk.... wish me luck, feels like I'm going to need it!

Star ...

Hey Hey Jules ...

You must be joking ...

When I met you recently, I thought you really look like a true "Cool Jazzer" ... [lmao]

Nah mate! I am sure you have a great time and just remember - Everyone else who has been invited to play are thinking and feeling the same as you ...

Anyway's - You sound like you will have the biggest flight case out of the bunch, so all the others will think you are the man ... :mrcool

Just blow mate and have loads of fun ... [I wish I could be there to support you] and make the movie ... ;}

Just have a ball Jules. Just give it some attitude and plenty of volume. Oh and don't forget to look very smug at the end of your solos.
Andre
Attiude and volume- not a problem... they're my specialisty. "can you turn the tenor down.... hang on, he's not got a mic!"- Matty, guitarist from Fat45!
Jules, I'm sure you must have read my article in Saxophone Champions called "How to blag it as a saxophone player" Have a quick read, then "up it" a notch. You know you can do it, and as Andrew said, "have a ball." It'll be a fantastic experience.
The worrying bit's not the sax- been doingh that for years, its the jazz bit.... Like I said to ya recently, I'm more a Steve McKay (Stooges) sort of guy... which, I suppose, does equate for a sort of strip joint version of free jazz..., hopefully!

Hi Jules
Remember (1) Its an Art form, Not a sport (2) There is only one person in the world that can play like you...and thats you.

Have a fantastic time .

There may be something you havent considered here
Are you going there to teach or learn or both ?
If you have lost faith in yourself then trust in destiny cos whatever will be, will be.
A couple of largers with the locals will soon put you at ease then youll probably have a blast after that.
Wish you all the luck!
