Beginner Martin Comm II alto sticky octave pad

There's a recurring sticky pad situation with my alto: the octave tone hole pad is sometimes not opening or is delayed., so after cleaning/treating the pad with Old English furniture polish, I ran 1500 grit sandpaper over the tone hole, and also slightly increased the tension on the helper spring that opens the octave pad. I'm hoping this fixes it for good, or at least a while.

Is it the octave key/tone hole on the body or on the neck? There is an adjust screw on the octave mechanism on Comm II.
