Now I'm no fan of PCs or Microsoft. But why do things have to be so complex with the Mac?

I've bought a new Pro scanner which comes with special profiling software for colour management. Installs fine and dandy and for once there is a proper and functional software interface for Mac.

However, after scanning the reflective target, I can see the IT8 target but it's 'grayed out' so I can't select it. 'Support' says open the file in a text editor and re-save and it will work fine. We it doesn't so what do I do now!

Hi Ian,

I say pick up your tenor and play the blues, I might have to do the same!

I'm editing today and all creativity seems to have left me! I can't seem to see where the cuts should go, why is it some days the picture and the sound cut so effortlessly together and other times they seem destined to cause me a headache?

All the best,

Chris

P.S. best of luck sorting out your mac

Might it not be a good idea to purchase your Pro Scanner *GROSS ENVY* from a Mac specialist. They will know what works with what and any relevant 'work arounds' and would probably set it up for you. More pennies I know but these guys do have to keep professional users going or else, goodbye client and wallet.

M'all sorted now courtesy of X-Rite who supplied me new IT8 profiles.

Apparently the ones 'on the website' aren't correct. Doh........ They emailed me the right ones and it's all done so I now have a proper calibrated 'input' scanning device! Seems like it wasn't the Mac's fault after all. >:)

Have to say I'm fed up with 'work-arounds' for Macs, Had a 'multi-printer' with fax and scanner etc. It was a Samsung - never got the scanner to work with the Mac, only the work lappy. I did some proper research before buying this one though as I need to scan rather a large number of old B&W photos, oodles of slides and a few negs.

I'm digital now, don't you know.:D
