Saxophones Lupifaro another new sax to think about

I noticed , also Reeds under the same brand , I`ll ask him next time Im speaking to him, the one thing about Pete is thay he`ll be totally honest about them ......... Nice to see a new true Italian Sax

Lupi - wolves
Faro - beacon/headlight/lightouse..

So beacon of wolves?

Aldevis/Milandro?

They say on the site that a Lupifaro is the name of a mythological animal linked to force and movement. I’ve never heard of this word. Looked it up on all the major dictionaries and couldn’t find it.

Since the company is a Swiss company (they speak Italian in Switzerland too, it is, after all, one of their 4 languages) must be a Swiss thing

Looks like Pete at Studiosaxophones has got another new horn he is selling.

Not cheap but claims to be made in Italy(i know we have heard it before) but on the website there are pictures of the manufacturing going on.

Does look quite nice and Chad Lefkowitz-Brown is endorsing them.

I have just supplied Justin Cummings with a Lupifaro Platinum Tenor...here is what he said...best modern alternative to a mark V1...i am sure he will be posting more comments..if you want to try one get in touch

Birdman

I spoke to Pete and he loves the horns and has one himself .........

Edit (Sorry Pete - didn`t connect "Birdman" with you at first - I get it now- Red Dwarf - LOL)

The problem is that the company is Swiss and Switzerland is outside the EU, for some bizarre reason they ship the horns to Switzerland from Italy and ship them from there so if Pete or anyone else wants to import them they have to pay import duty ! they won`t ship them from Italy for some reason . Must be frustrating and put off EU dealers from stocking them - it doesn`t affect sales to outside EU of course.. They need to sort this out if they want to remain competitive in Europe , there isn`t a shortage of top level horns at this price ....

Thanks Pete for your posts regarding these horns, they sound very interesting,i have thought about another tenor but would have to work on the financial director before i could commit, now Thorntons chocolates and a nice bunch of flowers might be a start.

I briefly tried a Lupifaro soprano at Namm last year, it felt like the most in tune soprano I'd ever played. Really nice solid tone also. I've mentioned the reeds elsewhere and will be doing a review sometime. Mind you I'm a bit stumped as to how to do much of meaningful review of a reed apart from saying it plays really really well.
