What a thoughtful tribute for which many thanks. It makes me hark back to a visit to the Menin Gate, on the outskirts of Ypres - I used to know how many names are on the memorial plaques but time has dimmed that particular memory. I also recall that the local Fire Department (correct me if I'm wrong) still have a bugler play at sunset which I find very touching and just to stand there is an emotional experience.

Regards

Dave

but will we ever learn?
Not in our lifetimes. We've evolved to fight and the looming shortage of land, fuel, food means that a war filled future is close to inevitable. I have my suspicions that the rise of more and more violent and graphic movies and computer games programs our kids into thinking of war as a natural part of life.
