Ligatures Lebayle 'Solist' Tenor ligature.

Tom has been going on about Lee Bail and singing the praises. I thought he was the Leeds? footballer with the handy fists but discovered my error.

Was intrigued by the Tension Rings that were around some time back after discovering they were not some strange Sherpa thing. As these were on Jonnie Myall's website thought I'd give it a go. Two types, 'Solist' which is ebony wood and the 'LR' metal and leather which is around 50% more expensive. Had to be the 'Solist' as the material is similar to my brain, whereas the thought of leather, means reach for the defibrillator.

Having been a Rovner fan, got home and first good thing, it just goes on the 'piece. No, shall I have it at the back of the reed, in the middle or as far forward as I dare, it just goes on and that is that. No, how much should I torque this up it just goes on and that is that. Simply, it is either on or not. Seemed louder and the low octave was positive. Palm keys worked too.

Put it on the analyser and there appeared to be less 'odd' harmonics using the same mike inputs but using the piezo electric vibration coupler, this was not so apparent. Well psycho-acoustics is a funny old subject and one prefers not to appear a fool in purchasing a new bit of gear, so I might be fooling myself.

Who said "That's easy"?

Left it on for a while, just in case it needed judicious use of a sledge hammer to remove but it just pulled off.

Might make them Croydon and Sarf Lundun Massive approved gear and a message to Pete, we have granted the PPT a Warrant of Approval and a similar Warrant, without the real gold embossing, will go to Lebayle..

Dear Revered Elder,

Does the Croydon and Sarf Lundun Massive Approved Gear Association have a quality stamp like the British Kite mark that I should look out for before making any future 'add to basket' blunders?

May I inquire as to whether you are using a Lebayle mouthpiece with this new ebony tension ring of yours? & how does it cope with the varying thicknesses of reeds, my Superials seem relatively consistent but the Javas could vary quite a bit.

‘umbly yours,

Chris

Me old RPC, carved from solid ebonite, using flint chippings by good old Ron. Took him six months.

Seems to accept Javas, RJS, Martin, ZZ, V16, Rico cheapies and Fibracell and I KNOW that there is no way a ligature can make any difference but.......................................................................................

Croydon and Sarf Lundun Massive saxophone Approved Items carry a minute hologram, not discernible by the naked eye, but the retailer should display our CaSLM Warrant.

Pauline, the Croydon and Sarf Lundun Massive's Official Moll, bears a tattoo on the inside of her left eyelid.

No further questions on the marking of CaSLM Approved Items or the nature of markings, please.
