Other korg tm 50 handy little piece of kit

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00923G9Q0

I bought one of these devices, and I find it very useful - it's about the size of tenor packet of reeds and about half as thick. The tuner works very well, especially on the higher notes - good with flute high notes.

The metronome work well but only has the one sound. If you play moderately quite you can play along to the click. I like the tap tempo feature so I can quickly get an idea of the tempo of a recording.

So far the battery life seems pretty good - no mains adapter with it. I've had it a few weeks and the batteries are still working well.

It sits nicely on my cheapo music stand.

All for around 20 quid - nice little stocking filler for xmas!

I know a lot of folks use smartphone apps for these functions, but I find this tuner works a lot better than the apps I've tried (especially flute), and, if it falls off the stand and breaks it's not a big deal - unlike an expensive phone. And the phone battery seem to need constant charging, which is very annoying.

I've had one for a few years. Has survived many trips from the music stand to the floor. Still on it's original battery.

I find the click too quiet, works better with an ear bud.

Me too - But mine is a Korg TM-40 Tuner/Metronome ...

Batteries are supposed to last between 50 & 70 hours depending on the functions you use regularly ...

My batteries are lasting much longer than that - Cos I don't switch it on anywhere near enough ...

😉 And - No - It's not Cos I am tight ... I am just plain Lazy ...

I also have a Korg TM40 tuner / metronome which has also flown from music stand to floor on many occasions. It is 6 years old and still on its original battery.
I would also recommend!

I`ve still got the old TM-40 (got it as a Synth tuner for old Analogs ages ago) , had it ages , it`s looking scruffy but still works just as well 🙂

For the extra couple of quid the TM 50C if a far better piece of kit, it comes complete with a contact mic for tuning in loud places that can be attached directley to the bell, alternatively Korg also maky a tuner called the Korg Wi Tune Wr-01 that does everything that the TM 50 and the TM 50C deos excecpt that the contact mic is wire less so you don't have to worry about getting tangled in wires - it's even a fiver cheaper, the down side is that both the tuner and contact mic require batteries, where as the contact mic from the TM 50C runs off of the batteries in the tuner and the contact mic does not require seperate batteries.

The difference between the TM 50c and the link the OP posted to amazon, is that the TM 50c is identical in everyway except it comes with a contact mic, so you don't have to relay or the rather rubbish internat mic, and have to find a relatively place to tune up, for the difference in price, we're talking about less than a fiver here, you would be silly not to get the TM 50c, the cotact mic bought on it's own it almost a tenner.

One thing that may not be obvious - you can plug the lead from an electric guitar straight into these tuners and tune direct without mic or amp. I'd guess that any contact mic with a 1/4" jack would work as well.
