Blues key (January 2017) Blues Key of the Month: Concert F# [Major or Minor]

I've been busy working on my Body (and Soul) but have now turned my attention to the blues in concert F# and decided to try it first on alto. I like these Jazzbacks slow blues backings, but I do find I end up playing the same sort of thing over them all and getting a bit stuck.

PS Over on SOTW a few years ago they had a thread with different forum members recording one or two choruses and being mixed together on a single recording that sounded excellent. Maybe it was @Pete Thomas who did that and maybe we could do it here at the Café next month ?

Rhys, I liked your alto take, you didn't seem to have much issues with key. Nice sound and growls too!

On SOTW who had the Blues thread from Pete which had 8 rounds (I was in the last one):
The Famous Sax On The Web Blues

There was once a thread by Littlewailer where four or five guys (I was one of them!) recorded a chorus in an I got Rhythm chord scheme tune and Littlewailer did mix it into one long take and posted that one on SOTW.

It's a nice idea, but a lot work to do it well (for the person taking up the mixing work that is)!

Any more blues in F# minor or major to come this month ?

Rhys

I'm in the middle of writing something at the moment that seems to be turning into something pretty cool. I'm not sure if, given how it's progressed, that it's still a blues song, though. It's certainly not traditional blues, anyway. 😉

It probably won't be finished before the end of the month unfortunately.

Looking forward to hearing it, whenever you are ready to post.

That's it. There are a lot of contributors there - eight rounds and five or more sax players in each round.

I guess we could see how many Cafe members would be up for this.Rhys

I am in round 3 at the end -The A Train, just starting to learn to improv then and not very good at it but it was fun and I would throw my hat in the ring to do it again here.
