Theory & Impro Ireal pro confusion

Sorry if this question is in the wrong place, and sorry if I don't explain it very well.

I bought the book Classic Jazz for Saxophone which contains 66 jazz standards for alto and tenor sax. It also shows the appropriate chords for Eb and Bb instruments.
I've now downloaded ideal pro in order to make some simple backing tracks for these pieces.
My question is if I put the alto chords in as written for a piece in the key of G, what key does the chord chart have to be in (I'm thinking maybe C?)
Thanks

If you're only using it for you, put in the chords it shows you for Eb for example and play them with your alto, and you're good.

There is a transposition button - if you look at the bottom right. This allows you to put in chords in concert pitch, and then press Eb and it'll transpose them to Eb.
If you tell it you're working in Eb before you start entering chords, then if you later press C (concert) or Bb for your tenor, it will transpose the chords for a piano playing friend or the chords you've put in for your alto, for your tenor.

I did mean ireal pro and the iPad changed it! Lol

My piece of music is written in G.
Above this is a line of chords for Eb and a line of chords for Bb so I assume that means one line is for alto and one line is for tenor and they are the correct accompaniment for that piece of music.
My confusion occurs when I put these into irealpro. Which key do I use?
Sorry if I'm not being very clear 🙁

I think you're thinking too hard. If you put the chords in that are written down for alto, and then play the notes you've got written (in G) on your alto, I expect it'll work, as no doubt the transposition has been taken into account, or why would there be two different lists of chords for tenor and for alto. So ditto for tenor.

A piece apparently written in G, for tenor is actually in F concert isn't it. So, if a major key, the chords might be F7, Gm7, C7 - does that look like what you've got?

Thanks Jay. I thought the transposition would have been taken into account, it's just that when I put the chords into the app surely I have to specify which key. There is a key button.
Ahh, I think I see what you mean. So I should just put the chords in and specify the key of G?
Those tenor chords do look similar to what is written.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
