Explanation to follow, but you can blame a member from Cornwall for this; a thread about scales sparked the insane idea.
BTW, I was swimming backstroke humming the melody and thinking of the arrangement, when I hit my head.

Well, I finally calmed down a bit.
The BT just has a concert D pedal.
It is up to the improviser to play whatever he/she wants.

If a guideline/melody is needed, I wrote a simple line.
It can be adapted to several modes, as in modal music, because that is what modes are for. Not to improvise on chord progressions.
I wrote and played melody and solos in:
D phrygian dominant (G harmonic minor).
D major (Ionian? have you ever been to Taranto?)
D dorian (Crete? I just made a great dried broadbeans soup)
D phrygian (as in modern Anatolia).

Melodies and modes are interchangeable.
Any mode is welcome, even if you make it up. As long as it has a D as a starting point.
Multitrack recording is more than welcome and could be fun (Jamesmac, I hope you are listening)
Playing outside any kind of tonality is welcome too (altissimo, this is for you).

Do not complain: at least I did not write it in 7/4 as it should be.

What did I play?
Melody in Phrigian dom, solo in Phr dom
Melody in Ionian, solo in Ionian...

And so on

Questions?

if you want overdubbing it'd be useful to know how many bpm these tracks were recorded at so we can sync up the ethnic percussion loops and breakbeats etc

however did you come up with that fiendishly difficult bassline?
You would be surprised about how hard would it be to find a bass player able to do it; D on the 3rd string and that harmonic high D on the second string. and grooving.

I'm surprised. I never knew you could right click a link. The MP3 appeared in my down load file.

Now I'm just off to google who this Frigian Dorian from Iona is.

I just found out that a song with almost the same title exists:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDkDBobIaQI

Please appreciate that this musical influence is not overwhelmingly present in my writing.
This very band was my great-grand-mother favourite, and my father tells that she used to cry in commotion when she saw them live.
Apologies to our vegetarian friends.

On the gastro-historical side, raznjici and cevapcici are a variation of Turkish skewers and shish-kebab (kebab-shish).
Since the two attempts of the Ottoman emperor to invade Vienna, they must contain pork meat, to be inedible by the pious invaders.

You may notice that the Avsenik Ansambel is more influenced by the Austrian side, that the Balkan.
Dress code to be confirmed.
