Tone or Sound Interesting long tone practice

I stumbled opn an interesting exercise Playing low D, on tenor for me, I noticed I could get the first overtone together with the low D and by varying breath pressure emboucher etc I could vary the amounts in the mix of the two tones and vary the loudness. So two variables to play with. Something to concentrate on.
Sounds like a very good exercise for control, maybe I should ad that to TTS1

Playing those low notes and allowing some of the upper partials into the note is a great way to get a big sound. You'll hear a lot of the old honkers doing just that to get a big fat sound out've the bottom end of the horn. As Pete says great exercise for control and with time you'll find you can use that kind of control technique to get split tones higher up the horn. (Should you ever be so inclined 😉 )

I found trying to play both Ab's at once I get a low frequency beat. What is going on? Presumanly somehow I am producing two notes which are very close together. This didn't happen with the two D's. A link here to the sounds I get
Multyphonics Ab.mp3
The beats get faster as the 'note' progresses. Maybe slowing them down to nothing would do the trick if I knew how to do it.
