I know i have posted here before ...I respect your opinions ....with that in mind I put up another listening experience .... knowing its faults ... in the middle ..the impro gets a little lost... but for me this is a learning exercise and I hope I learn ... no matter That I am a Senior... ;}

Hey Saxade, I enjoyed this tune, the head sounded fine good timing and intonation, there where a couple of places through the middle you lost the intonation a little but overall you created a good feel. Thanks for posting..

Chris

Hi Saxade, How long have you been playing sax?
I think your sax sounds the way a tenor should. I'm quite impressed :thumb:
By the way I ordered my ATG System 3 weeks ago, there is no sign of it, and not a word from them!

John.

I'm not Australian but I think you did pretty well and had a pretty good tone throughout the piece. It would be good to hear you gradually add some greater dynamics to the playing to eventually add your stamp to the piece, but the smoothness of your playing captures the mood of the piece.

On the basis that you are looking to "improve the sound..." you could either look to sustaining a lighter tone, or maybe add a contrast by slightly clipping your notes at times, eg instead of "dah dah dah dah dah..." play "dah dat dah dat dah..." or "dah dah dah dat dah...".

Good stuff!

Thanks guys so much for your comments, much appreciated & listened to. I really did upload very early, because I was excited to get that sound back on the Tenor... but listening to the play back that impro in the middle was a bit of a cringe factor .. still i will cop it sweet and hopefully learn... again thanks for your generosity in your criticism...

Ade

Good tone my only advise would be not to allow your improvisation to ramble too much, pick out notes of the chords or parts of various phrases and fool around with them. listen to Lester Young! keep it simple.
but as the others have said well played.

Coming from a cover band muso and always had this love for Jazz/blues and finally after 30 + years ... back into playing with enthusiasm but not the ability... the energy in the past always came from the other guy's I was playing with...we were young .. loved life & music with a passion... we backed many "guest artists".. we had a great keyboard artist... After that ramble what I am saying is Zoot had pegged it...I will work on it... Pity I am just bloody impatient :shocked:

thanks..... as always I appreciate it

I am sad to hear that John... I had sooo much trouble getting the the product from the originator....
I ended up getting it from a musos site in America.... but as
I have said ... once I got it I am impressed...

Hi Adrian,
I had a note from the post office today, telling me I have a parcel waiting collection. I'm not expecting anything else, so it's fingers crossed. I'd like to get stuck into it tomorrow and see if I can sort a reed for the gig tomorrow night :thumb:

John.

I find if you go though the excise and blow the reeds in the the box .. you will find that one side is dead or if you are lazy ... a quick scrape on all the reeds they are Sweet...
you will see..

HI Saxade, I enjoyed your rendition of "This Masquerade". I would like trying my hand at also playing it. Where did you get the song from? without vocals. I am learning to play the tenor sax and I love it. I have been doing it for 2 and a half years now, I've got a lot to learn. You play beautifully.

Thanks from Sax58

:blush: I am sorry.... I just looked at he first post... :blush: :blush: It is absolutely related to this thread...

Good luck with your venture on the tenor ... and keep us updated on your progress here...

Welcome to Cafe Saxophone.... ;}

I only just caught this thread, and the one thing no one else said, unless I missed it was..... smooth, very, very smooth. Ok so you made some errors, and got a little lost, but you know that, in fact it was you that told me that.......... I thoroughly enjoyed listening to that, your tone is absolutely gorgeous!

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
