Hey guys,

Long time no post - I've been off sax'ing but just haven't been on the innertubes :D

Thought it was about time I brought home my Mic to record a quick improv sesh today.

soundcloud.com/eunza/improv-over-cinematic-backing (any chance somebody could make this a link for me? lol i'll get to 5 posts one day!!!)

Using 'Cinematic Ambient Backing Track (Gm) by MegaBackingTracks - A free to use (non profit) so hopefully no issues posting with it here.

Anywho, Any critique welcome - Still a bit shaky on the technique (most noticebly today the timing and some wonky notes, high notes haha) just doing some improv over the top.

From last time have been saxing bout 1hr a day and mostly on Tuning and trying to play by ear as much as possible, more worried about getting whats in my head out.... Tone, timing are on the list to improve ... when time :D -- oh and tonguing? .... yeah one day Hahah

Cheers.

Good effort. No problem in keeping it simple and everything directed by what's in your head. It's smart to not try to play ahead of yourself and make the most with what you've got. You might try singing this as well and see how close (or far away) your interpretation is to what you'd sing.

Good work!

Thanks for the comments guys - Funny you mention singing the notes, Wade - I've just started doing this in the last few weeks and found that it has really improved my improv , instead of getting stuck in patterns it forces me to find the exact note in my head.

thx for the link too chris - I should be able to make them myself now i'm at 5 posts :D
