Great stuff there from recording revolution, although there are quite a few conflicting opinions with his proposals, let alone that the current version of Pro Tool 10 is about 699 $ http://shop.avid.com/store/category.do?category=pt10-software

I know, Audacity...last time i used it, my pc left like Elvis.
Where is the recording software comparison thread?

Zeus, there is no need to spend and arm and a leg getting into home recording software. Everyone knows about "Audacity". There others out there. "Reaper" is a very good piece of software for not a large amount of money, "Presonus" is another, they even do a free version that lacks some of the very advanced features.
A lot of the hardware makers always seem to offer lite versions of "Cubase" or "Sonar" free, all very good software packages..Most of the the main software companies offer free 30 day demo's.. All will get you into home recording. If I was starting from scratch today I would use "Reaper" or "Presonus"..
