O.K. I'll put it another way. Martin, listen to your "Satin Doll" and the lads "Danny Boy". Now if you were both playing Satin Doll together from your music. What do you think would be the most noticeable difference between you?

Difficult question! I'd be interested in reading your answer (thanks for listening to Satin Doll, by the way). I was only kidding, like Taz. There's always going to be people with more skill/talent/whatever than you but it would be foolish to stop doing something you love because of that. But if we're really going to think about it, I'd say he makes a sweeter sound, which is more consistent up and down the range of the instrument. He uses vibrato pretty well, which is something I haven't even started on yet. But there are things I don't like, too. The slushy style of the arrangement for one thing, and he seems to me to be dragging the tempo in places.
(To be honest, I think the most noticable thing for most people would be that I'm about twice as tall.)

How did I do?

Cheers

Martin

Very well!

Yes Martin it's the vibrato. Your set up (reed/m'piece) combination sound to be very good. I think it's time to get that jaw going.
Playing, facing into a corner will be a big help to you.
Well done, keep it up, no quitting. Let's here the good vibrations!!!

John.
