Clarinet how can i make my mouthpiece guard stick?!

Hi there

Any tips on getting clarinet mouthpiece guards to actually stay in place? My ones move a bit every time I play, eventually jutting out over the edge of the mouthpiece.
I've tried washing the mouthpiece clean using an alcohol swab before applying the guard, but to no avail!

all suggestions most welcome!

Hi Rob. The ones I've tried have stayed in place forever, so I think you should try a different brand.

The brand I prefer is Kolbl, plenty of stick, in fact you can take off & replace.. others as good though - Yamaha BG etc (.8 mm by the way).

If its any help, I use the clear ones from FAM Enterprise (email mpc-patch@blueyonder.co.uk). They're brilliant - don't budge at all, and they're not as squishy as the neoprene ones so you don't end up with bits of rubbery stuff in your mouth! I think they cost about £10 for 10 inc P&P, and arrive next day.

I use black duct tape, cut and shape and apply two layers, works fine. Can also be cleanly peeled off any time later,
