I love playing these though - great for reading/fingering/intervals etc ..

This one is a Sonata by Leonardo Vinci (not the inventor).
It's rushed and could be more expressive and have fewer mistakes .. ))

Thanks Dennis - I hadn't heard that Rachmaninov piece before. (I listened to a nice cello version on youtube.)
I found the music ... so now I have a new project !

This sounds plenty difficult as it is and you're going through it at a fairly fast clip. For me this style/period is about nailing the tempos precisely and having the feel of the music come from within those relationships of tones, but it must first have rhythmic precision. From a musical perspective (rather than just as a practice) having everything fit precisely in the tempo is more important than playing all the notes (without the fit). Regardless it certainly shows your dexterity with the bari-beast.

(It's why I made the "rushed" comment.)
But what I know and mean to play often just doesn't materialize !

Before I hit record I said to myself .. "OK this time, slow and in time".
Ha !! not a chance.

I can see how that would be a good finger loosener.
Keeping in time would kill me in this type of exercise, but you seemed to manage it pretty well.

I did record the second movement of the piece .. but it's even rougher. ;}
