I've been looking for a new case for my Martin tenor saxes. What's the differnce between the Artist case and the Pro II case? Anyone knows if the Artist case fits a Martin (low B and Bb on left side)? I can't find the Artist case on Hiscox's website, but saxophones.co.uk have the Artist case on thier website. I know that the Pro II case fits a Martin. I tried a Martin at Mike Duchstein in Berlin last summer so I know that the Pro II fits.

The Hiscox sax cases are not available in Sweden. Just guitarcases. So I think I've to buy it in UK.

Hi Thomas

I've just done a bit of research into Hiscox cases and bought one, the Pro II.

Here's the thread: Accessories - Shaped Tenor Sax Cases...

Differences between the Standard, Pro II and Artist:
Hi Rhys,

I've been looking at their site and if the construction and so on of the sax cases matches the guitar cases then all three versions feature the same “Original Liteflite” construction where they differ is that the standard has 1.5mm ABS thick outer shell, the Pro has 2mm and the Artist has 2.5mm.

The Pro also has Steel 'D' rings fitted for strap fixing and soft foam cushion padding for extra shock protection. The artist has more padding and a leather handle.

Given all that I kind of feel the middle way is probably best for me.

Maybe this wasn’t such a hard decision after all :w00t:

All the best,

Chris

Unfortunately I can't comment on the cases ability to take a Martin

All the best,

Chris

We've got Artist cases for tenor at work and, currently, a couple of old Martin tenors in being fixed- drop me an email ( jules@sax.co.uk ) on monday and I'll do a compatibility test for you..

I've used Hiscox cases for my Martins for years. Plenty of room for LH bell keys.

Thanks you all for your answers. So the differnce is a thicker shell on the Artist case. I'm just looking for a new case that fit my Martin. I'm not traveling with my saxes. Just a short carride to the pub or a workshop. I think the Pro II will do just fine.

Just got two ProII cases....I am sure they will be adequate for the use you describe!!

In all probability you're right- the Artist series is designed for proofing your sax against bouncing in the back of tour vans, clumsy road crew, aircraft holds etc.... nice leather handle though!

I spoke to the guys at Hiscox and apparently the Artist case was made primarily for the American market, it proved popular so they made a few for Uk stockists.
