It' been 4 weeks here in usually Welsh Wet Wales since any appreciable rainfall so I was pleased when @jbtsax invited me to host BOTM again in May, I know this tune is one of his favourites as he has mentioned it in a post on this forum. Having referred @Chris a suggestion of two ballads I might use, his reaction was you must do.

The dots, a backing and a BIAB file can be found here I have simplified the chords somewhat so that it is not quite so intimidating, and should make life a little easier.

There are a number of backings on YouTube as well but not all in this key. I desperately wanted to post Stan Getz playing this but they all seem to have been taken down or not work on iPad. So for now I'll just post two other favourites of mine.

I'm sure you will post a few more.

So far since deciding on this BOTM I've had a few practice sessions but haven't managed to produce anything postable. I'm looking forward to hearing as many versions as you can post, especially @jbtsax and @Chris. Maybe I'll divulge the other tune I had in mind at the end of the month or perhaps I'll save it for a rainy day.

Regards to all

Once you get past the odd intro...

Odd...pmsl...that is...err...odd 🙂 they left that in? Couldn't they edit tracks back in those days? I mean, seriously, I've heard other stuff from Tony Bennett and he's not that bad, but that is just WOW! 🙂

I'll post the 'Stan Getz' version..

When I started sax, it was mostly because of players like Plas Johnson and Gato Barbiere. I wanted that raw sound, but as I play more, I prefer the cleaner sound of Getz. And can I point out, those people who everyone says, "if you like Getz, then try xxx on YouTube, he sounds just like Getz"...no, he doesn't. 🙂

Ok, here we go with first stab. I can't no way play it that slow, so I've un-slowed it by 15%. Still feels a bit like come on! next note, hurry up!

Not v happy with this tbh, I think this is one of those where you just can't play it like it's written, well maybe unless if you're Chet Baker perhaps like. Think I might go and play the Calypso over there -> and maybe just to be awkward perhaps I should speed that up a bit too 🙂

I like that, the speed you've got it at works imo.
