I'm watching it too, i have a feeling it will rocket up in the last draws of bidding, i guess at least 800 -1000 quid, i may end up bidding, and adding to my already too many mouthpieces, must stop myself, must stop myself, must stop myself haha.

are these handmade Guardalas any better than the one's made by Jennifer Price - http://www.vigilantemouthpiece.com/Models.asp Sakshama - Mouthpieces or Nadir Ibrahimoglu - http://www.pms-music.de/Mundstucke/Tenormundstucke/Dave_Guardala_English_version/dave_guardala_english_version.html

or is it just the 'antique collecting' mentality that makes these original Guardalas so expensive?

my original is better sounding, bigger, brighter and more free playing, tho i am comparing my hand made super king to the laser MB2 which i also have. but i think you are probably right in some way about the 'antique mentality' also...

My Sakshama mps all blew atad more nicer than the handmade DG's I had.I got a Vigilante NY model made for me by her not to long back. The most powerfull mp I ever blew....Altissimo was amazing but I could not get it to sound nice.Harsh was the word. And it was a nightmare on reeds.Very picky.I sold it rather quick.Bang for buck Sakshamas bronze G's are the 1's from the list but saying that none give me the warmth plus power I get on my PPT rhodium.I'm glad i'm back on it for my main piece.Very very pleased.

Yes. OK, I have no first hand experience of Sahshama's copies or the Vigilante. But several handmade DGs as well as the later ones from both sides of the pond have made their way through my shop over the years. DG's work is better and it's not even close.
